it was nobody’s fault. they somehow shared the space behind Gilbert and when the weak left-turn came Hushovd tried to keep the space they had, while Cavendish was trying to get the whole place by himself

They did not get disqualified, they lost points because of head and shoulder bumping which creates danger.
